Zoie’s Fall Senior Portraits Along the Pedernales River

Zoie’s senior portraits along the Pedernales River was a perfect fall day—clear skies, warm light, and that crisp, golden feeling that only this season seems to bring. From the moment we started, she was completely at ease, moving naturally in front of the camera with a confidence and warmth that made capturing her personality effortless. Her outfits, all in line with her love for flowy, nature-inspired clothing, blended beautifully with the river and surrounding landscape, creating images that feel timeless and organic.

We began at Trammell’s Crossing, a little walk from the parking lot, and it quickly became one of the highlights of the session. The quiet spots along the river gave us room to explore, and Zoe’s comfort with the camera made it easy to capture genuine moments—laughs, thoughtful glances, and the playful energy she brought to every frame. Some of my favorite shots came from this area; the way she moved through the space felt completely natural, her outgoing personality shining through in every image.

As the day moved toward sunset, we made our way along the river to find spots with that warm, golden light. The final images, taken just as the sun was lowering, have a softness and glow that perfectly matched Zoe’s effortless, kind presence. There’s something about those last moments of the session, when the day is winding down and the light turns just right, that often creates the most memorable portraits—and this was no exception.

A moment that still makes me smile didn’t even happen during the session itself. A few weeks later, Zoe texted me a photo of her and her dog, recreating one of the images we’d captured together. Her dog, leash in hand, glanced back over his shoulder at her in exactly the same way, and it was such a joyful little echo of the session. It reminded me that these images live beyond the day we spend together—they become memories that continue, little moments of happiness to revisit again and again.

Zoe’s session was a beautiful mix of light, nature, and personality, captured in a way that feels completely true to her. From Trammell’s Crossing to the soft glow of the river at sunset, each photograph tells a story of who she is in this moment of her life.

If you’ve been dreaming of capturing your own senior year in a way that feels authentic, playful, and completely you, let’s plan your session and create a story all your own.
